Brain Abundance Lack of Retail Focus Again?
There is no information whatsoever on the B-Epic website explicitly identifying who owns or runs the business.
The website reads:
“Our team of leading industry professionals have been in the MLM industry for over 20 years, and are bringing all of their experience to your fingertips.”
Registered in 2014, the B-Epic website domain is “bepic.com”. The domain registration was recently updated on August 17, 2016, suggesting this is when the current owner(s) took possession of it.
Additional research discloses Eric Caprarese identifying himself as President and CEO of B-Epic on his LinkedIn profile.
Caprarese was also co-founder and CEO of Brain Abundance.
At present, the Brain Abundance website is still online, though Alexa traffic shows a continued deterioration during 2016.
According to word on the grapevine, Caprarese sold his share in Brain Abundance earlier this year.
Before launching Brain Abundance, Caprarese was involved in A.L. Williams & Associates (now Primerica), PureNRG FX and Blue Bird Bids Ponzi scheme.

B-Epic Compensation Plan
The B-Epic compensation plan pays affiliates on purchases of B-Epic’s product by retail customers and recruited affiliates.
When freshly recruited affiliates sign up and buy B-Epic’s product, a recruitment commission is created down 2 levels of recruitment as follows:
- Two week supply order ($30) – $10 on level 1 (personally recruited affiliates) and $2 on level 2
- One month supply order ($45) – $20 on level 1 and $4 on level 2
- Two month supply order ($89) – $40 on level 1 and $8 on level 2
Residual commissions in this program are paid out through a binary compensation construction.
A binary compensation construction puts an affiliate at the top of a binary team, divided into 2 sides, left and right.
The 1st level of the binary team holds 2 spots. The 2nd level of the binary team divides each of these 2 spots into another 2 spots each.
Spots in the binary team are filled through direct and indirect recruitment of B-Epic affiliates.
Subsequent levels of the binary team are created as required, with each new level holding twice as many spots as the previous level.
At the end of each week, sales volume is added up on both sides of the binary team.
One bottle of B-Epic’s product, either sold to a retail customer or bought by an affiliate produces 40 BV (Business Volume).
A B-Epic affiliate is paid 20% of the BV produced by their weaker binary team.
Note: In order to qualify for residual commissions, a B-Epic affiliate needs to recruit and sustain at least 2 active B-Epic affiliates.
No specific “active” qualification criteria is provided. Nevertheless, it is presumed to mean an affiliate who either purchases a bottle of B-Epic’s product a month or sells it to a retail customer.
All affiliates receive a matching bonus on binary earnings by their downline, paid out through a uni-level compensation construction.
A uni-level compensation construction puts an affiliate at the top of a uni-level team, with each personally recruited affiliate put directly underneath them (level 1).
If a level 1 affiliate recruits new affiliates, they are put on level 2 of the original affiliate’s uni-level team.
If a level 2 affiliates recruits new affiliates, they are put on level 3 and so on and so forth down a hypothetical countless number of levels.
B-Epic caps payable uni-level levels at 4, with the matching bonus paid out as a percentage of binary commissions earned by affiliates within these four levels.
- level 1 (personally recruited affiliates) – 20% match
- levels 2 and 3 – 10% match
- level 4 – 5% match
The companies affiliate membership is free.
B-Epic – Our Thoughts?
The likenesses between Brain Abundance and B-Epic are obvious.
While Brain Abundance marketed a daily “brain nutrition” capsule, B-Epic is now a “performance capsule”.
Both companies had a binary-based compensation plan and both have a debatable retail emphasis.
B-Epic’s business model has affiliates sign up for free and then have to either purchase or sell product to become commission qualified.
In an ideal world, this would be selling the B-Epic product to retail customers, but more often than not is merely an affiliate on monthly auto-ship self-qualifying.
B-Epic – Conclusion
This was pretty much the case in Brain Abundance and will likely continue in B-Epic.
Why does this matter? Simply, this business model is a product-based pyramid scheme.
B-Epic affiliates sign up, obtain the B-Epic product every month and recruit other affiliates who do the same.
Retail is practically non-existent, with the overpowering mainstream of revenue produced by the company sourced from affiliates.
As we saw with Vemma, this can entice the attention of regulators.
Why Eric Caprarese got out of Brain Abundance is not at all clear, but if I had to guess, I would say it is because affiliate recruitment slowed down.
That slow down prompts a collapse (be it sudden or drawn out), which is the end of an MLM opportunity without substantial retail sales activity taking place.
Bottom line — B-Epic is presently in prelaunch phase and does have time to add retail qualifiers and a stronger retail focus than Brain Abundance had, but whether these are applied remains to be seen.
At the time of this publication, B-Epic is presently scheduled to launch on November 11th.
